Travel Instructions
Travelling North on M1 use Junction 24. Stoke-on Trent (A50), Derby (A6), (A5111 signposted ring road and Ashbourne),
(follow signs Ashbourne A38, A52)
Travelling South on M1 use Junction 28. Derby (A38), Ashbourne (A52)
For both the above routes from Ashbourne
follow the signs for Leek (A52 then A522) after about 6 miles go
through the village of Waterhouses, then 1 mile and through Winkhill,
½ mile further on you will pass a Little Chef on the left, go a
further ½ mile and turn left at the crossroads (Green Man Pub) to
Ipstones (B5053), carry on along this road through the village of
Ipstones and for a further 1 mile, Hermitage Farm is on the right just
as you start dropping down the hill.
Travelling North or South on M6 use
Junction 15 for the A500 (signposted Stoke-on-Trent), (We advise
you do not use Junction 16 as this is usually a very busy route and
can be quite slow.) take A50 (signposted Uttoxeter) go through
Meir tunnel, take 1st exit for Cheadle (A521 signposted Blythe
Bridge), at roundabout take 2nd exit, after about 3/4 mile go over
level crossing in Blythe Bridge, then go left at the crossroads
(directly
after the pedestrian crossing, signposted Cheadle), after approx 3
miles you should be on Cheadle high street (with traffic calming
ramps) at the roundabout at the end of the high street go left (A522),
at the top of the short hill (300 metres) turn right on to Froghall
Road (A521 and signposted Churnet Valley Railway), after about 1 ½
miles you will be in a village called Kingsley Holt, keep going
through the village and drop down a steep hill to a T junction in
Froghall, turn right (A52), go past the Railway Inn (on right), over
the bridge and past telephone kiosk, notice a large sign on left for
Bolton Copper, turn immediately left towards Ipstones (B5053) and
climb up hill, Hermitage Farm is about ½ mile on the left at the top.

Travelling from Alton Towers Theme Park
From Alton Towers main gates turn right
following the M1 North route, after about 1 mile you come to a
crossroads (The Star Inn) go straight, follow this very narrow and
twisting country lane for approx 2 miles to the end and to another
crossroads on the main road (A52) go left, after 1 mile enter Whiston
village (the Sneyd Arms Pub & Restaurant on right) carry on a further
1 mile down a VERY steep winding hill, at the very bottom of the hill
enter Froghall village and turn right (before the Bolton Copper
factory) towards Ipstones (B5053) climb up the hill, Hermitage Farm
is about ½ mile on the left at the top.

Travelling by train
The nearest mainline railway station is
at Stoke-on-Trent (14 miles). However, there is also a railway
station at Blythe Bridge (6 miles).
